Revelations.

Ok, seriously, I can't thank ya'll enough for your encouragement yesterday. It was an exceptionally low post and ya'll were so amazing and I really appreciate your words of wisdom and grace.

I'm not minimizing how I felt when I wrote it at all but I may have discovered the root of the kind of funk I had found myself in.

I think it may have something to do with this.

This is Caddie Woodlawn. She's our newest pet. She was a "free" kitten from a stray momma cat that Tee's teacher, Roni, took in this year. My kids insisted that we needed a kitten to replace their most loved and most deceased cat, Max. We are nothing if not total pushovers, especially for a face like this.

We may be pushovers but Scout is not convinced. He's thinking, "Max would have NEVER worn a princess dress. It's fruity therefore, I shun you."

Caddie Woodlawn brings our pet grand total to five. That is almost the number of children also living here which needless to say, may account for my low spirits.

I walked into the girls bedroom for goodnight kisses the other night and found Olivia all curled up with Caddie Woodlawn. It was so sweet I took a picture.

Then I went to kiss Sadie and found her lovingly curled up with her favorite pet, Augustine the bearded dragon.

Sweet. A little gross but still sweet.

Ya'll rock.

Boy, I miss that face! Love the name of the kitty.

Will Augustine stay there all night and won't bite her face or anything?

What is a Caddy Woodlawn anyway?

I think I'm bringing over 1 of your dogs to even out the kid/pet thing. Guess which one? Not the cute, little, white one or the old one that sleeps in a chair ALL day either......

Love Caddy Woodlawn. Not sure about Augustine as a bedfellow, however. He must feel the love.
Blessings, best daughter-in-law!

The BEARDED DRAGON??? She's sleeping with the bearded dragon? And it's just lying there with her? Hahaha! I'm cracking up!

Thats hilarious! And I looove that book! I haven't read it in years! I'm so glad your children know about it. Now I want to dig it out and re-read it! Funny story: my younger brother loooved his goldfish when he was young and once took it to bed with him. Sad ending, it wasn't discovered until the morning, Nate was pretty upset! Your kids are awesome!!

Why is the cat named after Caddy?

And do dragon/lizards really sleep? You are a much nicer mother than I--I would not allow the thing in our house, let alone snap endearing photos. :-)

I am glad you were encouraged enough to write a funny post. I cannot imagine the stresses and hard decisions that press down on you in your ministry. God bless you and know that many are praying for you!

I was born a bit early and to the wrong mom! My mom was much like you in the pushover department:) but she would never have let me sleep with my iguana!
