Snow day.

We are on day two of canceled school on account of snow.

Yesterday, I think someone spilled a glass of sweet tea on the street causing the whole city to shut down.

Regardless, we've had no school and lots of fun. Some of my favorite days are ones like these; when we have to cancel all we had planned just to hang out and stay in. There's a lot of freedom in being unable to go and do.

Yesterday, we invited some new friends from the neighborhood over and the kids played all day. Their big brother is a friend of Darius' and they all live with their Auntie around the corner. We called her several times throughout the day to see if the girls could stay a couple of hours longer and before we knew it, it was after dinner.

It was a great break for all of us and we spent the day making, decorating, and eating dozens of cupcakes. Sprinkles were everywhere.

Darius decorated a chicken nugget.

I can only do so much.

This morning, we had real-live, legitimate ice. It's now thawing and my kids are wanting to put their bathing suits on to go play in the puddles. And thus is the way of the weather in Dallas. I'm still in my pajamas, the kids are happily playing, and we've got no place to go.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

I mean no disrespect....We people in the north just want to see what grass looks like again:)Snow days are great aren't they?!
We build snow forts on snow days...then I tell the kids they need to play survivor all day out in their forts!!!

this is fun to kids have been praying (for real) for a snow day, no such luck--even with the way below freezing temps, snow, and ice--just had to bundle them up and send them on their way!! Guess we need to come to the South for one!!

It iced in Memphis, too. Thankfully, what little ice we actually had has melted today, so I'm able to get out again!

I've been praying for you and your family, especially Dea and Darius. I hope all is well.

Cupcakes...sound so good right now!

So the cute little mini poodle across the street is the father. We know this because we caught them "together". :0) You are welcome to a pup! I am taking her to the vet in the next week to make sure all checks out well.

We enjoyed our two days A LOT! There is a wonderful feeling when you cancel things and cross them off the calendar.
And being married to a teacher - awesome! He was home, toO!
Never mind that the list is longer the next week! :-)

Hi, Melissa... You don't know me but I love reading your posts and hearing about your world.

Haven't seen anything in a few days... hope all's well with you and your peeps! I've never actually commented on a blog before, but wanted to make sure you knew the snow/ice event was over and it was safe to come out now.

I must take this opportunity to tell you that the melt-in-your-mouth-biscuits were Y.U.M.M.Y.

I second what Cynthia said! I miss you :). It has been almost a week and nothing....

Hope all is well and that you return soon!

I remember now that you were once cheating on us with FB. Maybe you are there again...
