A Giveaway! Let's talk about...

...or, let's avoid the subject, call it God Magic, go get a Slurpee, and call it a day.

If that's your first reaction regarding the of education your children about sex, join the club.  We have t-shirts.

The whole subject scared the fire outta me and made me want to hide under the covers, rocking in fetal position, for the next 10 years.

And then I met Mary Flo.  Actually, I didn't meet her, I heard her speak and her words were like sweet, sweet, comfort to my petrified soul.

For years, Mary Flo Ridley has been helping parents just like you and me navigate the waters of talking about sex with your children.  She does it with grace, humor, and honesty and encourages you, as the authority in your children's lives, to do the same.

Being in Dallas, we have the privilege of hearing from Mary Flo more often than most.  In fact, she's speaking at Covenant's Parent Forum on Monday Night.

She has recently published a book called Simple Truths where she walks parents step-by-step through the process of establishing healthy values in the home, and answering tough questions that young children have about sex.

It's amazing, a must have for parents, and a whole lot better than hiding under the covers.

Trust me.  I've tried.

Mary Flo has given me a copy of her book to give away.  Just leave me a comment and I'll pick a winner randomly on Wednesday, March 3rd!

In the meantime, check out her great blog, "Sooner Than You Think".  She's a fantastic writer with great tips for parents. And I'm not just saying that because one time she baked her famous Ridley Pumpkin Cake for our family.  For that, I just kissed her feet.

Good Luck!

i have never heard of her, but she has the cutest name ever. we could definitely use her input with the younger two and a 12 year old who refers to the subject as "IT". he gets a deer in the headlights look when the subject comes up...just like his mom.

As foster parents, we have kids coming through our home regularly. This would be an amazing resource to use with kids who know more than they should and need, loving, godly guidance and encouragement to make know the right information and make wise choices.

Thanks for the chance!!!

PERFECT TIMING.

I have 11 (almost 12) year old twins(boy/girl)...JUST LAST WEEK, I had to have the "period" talk with my precious daughter, because she is growing breasts (sigh) and getting moody. (Help)

We had the period talk and I drew a uterus on a piece of paper to explain things. I left out all of the sex stuff, because I don't know how to go there, and I don't want to send her to therapy. We homeschool, so I know I'm her only hope to know these things from a godly perspective. I'm thankful she is almost 12 and yet is still innocent in these things.

HELP.....

I would LOVE to hear her speak! I wonder if we could get her to come up here and speak at Fellowship in Little Rock? Just about to take a little weekend trip with my 10 year old daughter to go much deeper on the topic--a "purity" weekend, if you will. Thanks for the resource information and her website! I'll definitely be looking into this! Have a great week!!

I have never heard of this book before. We have 3 boys...12, 8 and 3. My husband has shared a little bit about puberty with our 12 year old, but when we talk about it he let's us know real quick that he is NOT READY for that information. So we are going at his pace. Taking cues from him and sharing a little bit at a time.

2nd time today I've heard about her...from 2 different people...it must be getting near the "time" to have the "talk"...God seems to drop things in my lap one after another when those things come up! I'd love to win it!!!!!!! And take notes as Aunt Melissa might be the keynote speaker at Alexander Academy on a Tuesday to teach all of the kids on the subject!!!!! This subject has come up between me, Emily, Jamey and TJ in the kitchen while Moody lovingly teaches our children about the circulatory system in the next room!

I haven't heard of her, but wanted to pass along another great resource. Family Life puts out "Passport to Purity". My husband used this "manual" and took my 9 yr. old son on a getaway trip w/ the Passport to purity. Very detailed, very good! By the way, I have a very mature 9 yr. old. :)
