Perhaps a misapplication on my part.

A few mornings ago, Hannah and I were talking about suffering and the Lord while she was trying to kill me by making me do more lunges than my body was ever intended to do.  Ironic, I know.

Does He allow it, permit it, ordain it, cause it and are those just different ways of saying the same thing. Is it a question of semantics?  This side of Heaven, can we know?

Yesterday, she sent me a sermon given by John Piper called, The Supremecy of Christ in Suffering . You can find it here...http://www.desiringgod.org/ResourceLibrary/Sermons/ByDate/2010/4566/

It s an excellent resource on the topic of suffering in the lives of Believers.

And, this morning, I have the benefit of applying what I learned earlier as I sit in a courtroom, taking care of a speeding ticket, and enduring the over zealous application of cologne and perfume by my fellow defendants.

Perhaps it's not exactly the kind of suffering Piper was talking about, but it's making me feel better all the same.

Thanks Melissa. I will take your word for it on the sermon. I remember way back when when you mentioned Francis Chan at Cornerstone Church in Simi Valley, CA. He has been a staple on my iPod ever since!

thanks friend! :-) going to look at it right now. . .
and I laughed at Traci's comment because I said the same thing. Because yes, yes you were. I was in Dallas at the time, in fact . . .

ps - our best friends are moving to Waco this summer - so we'll come do a double visit sometime next fall :-) Plus, you owe me dinner . . .

Cannot believe you failed to mention the suffering the day AFTER lunges.

The whole Piper series is great!

And, yes, Traci, she was in traffic court several times last year.
